Protecting our Students Act

The Center for Safer Schools has created a comprehensive course guide in alignment with N.C. General Statute 115C-105.57(2a). The Protecting Our Students Act is referenced in Session Law 2023-128/House Bill 142. This essential programming has been created by the North Carolina Center for Safer Schools, aimed at equipping K-12 school employees with vital information regarding inappropriate behavior and adult sexual misconduct in school environments.

We are sharing these materials with you in part because of N.C. General Statute 115C-105.57(2a). This required the videos to be developed and to be shown to students in grades six through twelve and the videos should be viewed by all public-school students.

About Us

On behalf of the Beaufort County Board of Education, I welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year.  Beaufort County Schools is committed to providing a world-class education for all students through dynamic instruction provided by a tremendous core of professional educators.  The teachers and school staff are excited and ready to engage your students in challenging and rigorous ways to ensure all students grow and advance throughout the school year.

As the school year starts and progresses, I encourage all parents to support their children’s learning at school and home.  Please continue to contact teachers, administrators, and counselors to identify both areas of success and concern that may need greater attention.  Additionally, please demonstrate a positive attitude about teaching and learning, athletics, extra-curricular activities, and community engagement with your children. Please encourage your students to be invested in their learning and involved in the opportunities school provides to them.  Always remember the importance of reading every day with your student(s) while spending time together.

Thank you for your continued interest and support in Beaufort County Schools.  We continue to feel love and support from our families, business partners, and community.  Together, we will have a remarkable school year.
