I am so excited to be teaching 8th grade ELA this year!

I have lived in Oklahoma for the past 3 years but I am from Beaufort County.  I grew up in Pantego where my dad is a farmer and my mom was a kindergarten assistant teacher.  I attended ECU for both undergraduate and graduate degrees.  I am married and we have three kiddos who are 8, 4, and 2.

I have always been passionate about reading and helping those who struggle to read.  I still love to read when I can!  

My planning is from 8:00-9:10 if you would like to call and speak with me during this time or set up a meeting.  I am also available by email during school hours.

Students need to read outside of school hours.  I will have a reading log each week.  Students need to read for 30 minutes EACH day Monday through Thursday.  This form needs to be filled out (name of book, time read, page numbers) and signed by a parent or guardian.  These need to be turned in on FRIDAY for a homework grade.  This reading assignment is meant to be reading of the student's CHOICE.  I want them to read things of interest to them - articles, books, magazines, comics, etc.  They can read to siblings - anything that has them reading for 30 minutes counts!  If they are struggling, please contact me and we will work together to find a solution.  This assignment is not meant to be a battle but meant to help students love reading.
