I teach a wonderful, energetic group of children with special needs and extra special hearts!!

I grew up in Roanoke, VA and moved to North Carolina during college. I graduated from East Carolina University with a degree and certification in Special Education and Adapted Curriculum K-12. I am also National Board Certified. I have been in the classroom for 29 years, 24 of which have been at John Small School.

I have been married to Brandon for 27 years. We have 2 children, ages 22 and 19 years old. My son attends and works for Appalachian State University, and my daughter is a sophomore at Western Carolina University. I like to read, spend time on the beach or on the river, and spend time with my family.

I believe that everyone should accept those who we THINK are different from ourselves- we might learn something more about ourselves and see how much we are alike.
