After earning my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from East Carolina University in 1997, I decided to return to ECU in 2001 to complete the requirements for my Bachelor of Science in English Education so that I could teach. I was offered my first teaching position in 2002 at Northside High School, where I taught for 19 years. During that time, I served as the English department chair and was named the school’s Teacher of the Year twice. I began teaching at the Early College High School during the 2021-2022 school year. I enjoy helping my students grow as readers, writers, and thinkers.
