Project Unify

Project Unify (also known as Unified Champion Schools) is a national program sponsored through Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC) and the US Department of Education. It aims to build a society of acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities by supporting activities to bring authentic and meaningful involvement to their school. Special Olympics Unified Sports training and competition provide an opportunity for students with and without intellectual disabilities to develop friendships.
Fifth Graders are selected by his/ her teacher to take part in Project Unify. All meetings and activities take place every other Friday.
Activities involve team games, relay games, art/craft projects, pumpkin carving, Easter Egg Hunts, prep rally, and Spread the Word campaign.
