James "Shad" Watters is a native and lifelong resident of Washington, NC. He has over thirteen years of teaching experience and is a certified ESL teacher. The 2024-25 school year will be Shad's fifth year at Eastern Elementary and fourth year at Bath Elementary. Shad attended Eastern Elementary as a student from 1974-77. He graduated from Bath High School in 1987. Shad is a graduate of Liberty University and has a BA in Christian Education, a Masters of Divinity, and a Master of Theology post-grad degree. He is a NC certified ESL instructor.

Shad is married to Kim, and they have five kids and six grandkids. He is also a Chaplain (Major) in the NC Army National Guard with over twenty years of service and two overseas deployments. Shad enjoys reading, running, camping, and playing music (but not all at the same time!).
