Degrees and Certifications:

Brett O'Brien

My name is Brett O'Brien and I will be teaching Kindergarten and First grade in a transitional EC classroom.  I was born and raised in Washington, NC. I graduated in Child Development and Family Relations, with a Birth through Kindergarten Teaching License in 1999 and with a master's degree in Special Education in 2007. After getting married in 1998, I taught Pre-K in Cumberland County for 2 years before moving to Greenville where I taught Preschool for Easter Seals UCP/Pitt County for 5 years, was an Inclusion specialist for one year, and taught at Eppes Middle School in a class for children with autism for one year. I returned to BCS and have taught at Chocowinity Primary for 4 years and John Cotton Tayloe for 9 years. I have 4 children, a 22-year-old son who attends ECU and is engaged to be married in October 2023, a 20-year-old daughter who attends UNC-Chapel Hill, a 17-year-old who is a senior at WHS, and a 9-year-old who will be at JSS.  We have 3 dogs: Cinder, Ginger, and Ember, who all think they rule the house!  My children and I have enjoyed our years with Beaufort County Schools; I feel that BCS has helped my children to be successful and I want to help all our EES students to reach their highest potential!  🙂
