I was born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland but have been in Beaufort County since 1984.  I have been happily married for 27 years to Jay Petty, who is a science teacher and the head soccer coach at Southside. 

Our son (Caleb) is the music teacher at CPS, his wife (Madison) is the new art teacher at CPS, and our daughter (Sarah) is a new math teacher at SHS.  

I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Math Education and later received my Master's degree in the same field from East Carolina University.

I have been teaching for 32 years in Beaufort County.  I taught at the former Chocowinity High School and then moved to Southside when the school was built.  I have come full circle in my career as I have started to teach my past students' children.  I truly love to work with teenagers at SHS.

I am looking forward to a great year teaching our Southside students Math 1 and Precalculus and coaching Southside athletes as the assistant soccer coach at SHS!
