Welcome to Fourth Grade ELA

My name is Melissa Nelson. I graduated from East Carolina University in 2012 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a certificate in Reading. I have been teaching in Beaufort County for 12 years. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd and now 4th grade. 

I live in Bath with my husband of 15 years and our two children, Ella and Talley. We enjoy everything that Bath has to offer and we are often found outside on the boat or playing in the river. 

I am excited to be your reading teacher this year. During our time together we will work on building our language, reading, and writing skills. We will use the Reading Elevate program for phonics instruction. We will use the Wonders Reading Curriculum to build vocabulary and reading comprehension skills through new stories.
