About Speech-Language Pathology
Speech disorders occur when a person is unable to produce speech sounds correctly or fluently, or has problems with their voice or resonance. Language disorders occur when a person has trouble understanding others (receptive language), or sharing thoughts, ideas, and feelings (expressive language).

My name is Mary Ann Cutler.  I graduated from East Carolina University with a Baccalaureate and Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.  I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA), as well as North Carolina licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.  I am also a member of the North Carolina Speech Hearing and Language Association.  I worked in Martin County Schools my first year of employment, and I have been working in Beaufort County Schools since 2000.  As a speech-language pathologist, I work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, and cognitive-communication in children.
