I grew up in Mechanicsville, Virginia and moved to North Carolina in 1988 when I married my husband, MIke.  We currently live in the small Hyde County community of Ponzer, where Mike is the minister of the Mount Olive Church of Christ.  We have a daughter, Hannah, and a son, Jared.  

In 2015, I graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Elementary Education (K-6) and also a Reading Certification degree for K-12.  I was not the typical college graduate as my daughter and I graduated the same day from ECU.  I taught 2nd grade for 1/2 a year here at Northeast, Hill Rap (a reading program) to 4th and 5th graders at John Small Elementary and 1st grade here at Northeast for the 6 years.  The classroom was very familiar to me as I was a teacher assistant for 12 years, 2 years at Eastern Elementary and 10 years at Bath Elementary.  

I am excited about teaching Kindergarten beginning this year.  I feel that knowing what is expected for them to know in first grade, will help me to prepare them throughout their Kindergarten school year.    

I look forward to another great year teaching and inspiring my students.
