Dr. Alexis J. McKeel

Dr. Alexis Jarman McKeel is an accomplished educator with a diverse academic background and experience in school administration. This is her second year serving P.S. Jones Middle School as an Assistant Principal. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education from East Carolina University, where she also completed her Master's degree in Middle Grades Mathematics. Continuing her pursuit of academic excellence, she obtained her Doctorate in School Administration and Supervision from Liberty University and is currently a candidate for an Education Specialist Degree with a Superintendent Concentration.
 
Dr. McKeel's career in education began as a middle school teacher, where she taught 8th Grade Math, 8th Grade ELA, and NC Math 1 in both Martin County and Pitt County for 4.5 years. Throughout her teaching career, she also contributed to the school community by coaching Varsity Women's and Men's tennis teams and middle school cheerleading. Her dedication and leadership skills led her to transition into administration as an Assistant Principal in Beaufort County Schools. She began her Assistant Principal position at Chocowinity Primary School in the 2022-2023 school year and was brought back to her middle school roots for the 2023-2024 school year. Outside of her professional life, Alexis finds joy in her personal pursuits. She is married to her husband Will and together they share their life with their three dogs: Macy, Levi, and Merle. Alexis has a deep love for the beach and enjoys spending time there. She is actively involved in serving at Ignite Church in Winterville and has a passion for baseball and tennis.
 
Born and raised in Richlands, North Carolina, Alexis McKeel is proud of her roots and values her education from Onslow County Public Schools, which played a significant role in shaping her career and personal values. She remains passionate about mathematics instruction and is committed to fostering educational excellence and leadership within the school community. She believes that all students can learn when they are held to high expectations that are met with accountability. She is a firm believer in the strategies of the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia, and thinks that every educator should experience the magic there at least once!
