    You will find general information about
    sports at PS Jones.  

    PSJ is a member of the Pitt County Middle School Athletic Conference.  The schools with directions included in our conference are:

    Eligibility Requirements
    • Cannot participate if 15 years of age on or before August 31 of the sports year.
    • Pass at least 4 classes last semester. This includes all first year 7th grade athletes.
    • No more than 15 absences last semester.
    • Physical within last 395 days***
    • Valid baseline concussion assessment. (Not required for Cross Country, Golf, or Track)
    • Gfeller-Waller Athlete & Parent Concussion Information Sheet (this in included in the required athletic packet).

     Athletic Registration

    We are very excited to announce that the P S Jones Middle School Athletic Department has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign athletic participation forms for your students. The most exciting news is that FinalForms saves data from season-to-season and year-to-year, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, for each of your students, saving you time.

    You may review your data at any time to verify it is current. You will be required to sign your forms once per year and after any update.

    Click on the Parent Playbook (attached) to get started in FinalForms. If you require any support during the process, scroll to the page bottom and click “Use Support”.

    We are asking that ALL parents of athletes use FinalForms.

    Concussion tests & Tryouts

    A valid baseline concussion assessment is required before the deadline of each sport participation.  Only one valid assessment is required per sports year. Assessment is not required for track, cross country, or golf.     Baseball, Softball, Soccer tryouts: March 9-11  Closed to spectators 

    ***NOTE ABOUT PRE-PARTICIPATION FORM (Physical Examination Form): Due to the extraordinary circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in school closures, a one year emergency addition to the State Board of Education Policy, ATHL-001, Interscholastic Athletics, was approved by the State Board of Education on April 23, 2020.

    Date of Current Physical Requirement for 2020-2021
    Prior to 03/01/19 Need valid, up-to-date physical prior to participating.
    On or after 03/01/19 through 05/01/20 Granted a temporary extension to participate through the end of the 2020-2021 academic year.
    On or after 05/02/20 Will participate based on the current policy of being “valid for 395 days”
    If you have a current physical on file, a second physical is not required.  Please check the physicals on file below: 

    Athletic Events

    Please park in the front lot in front of the school and enter through the school to the athletic event.
    There is limited parking in the rear of the school due to handicap and bus parking.
