About Me

My teaching career began in November of 2000. After graduating from East Carolina University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, I taught third and first grades at a small school near Tarboro. In February 2002, I moved to Chocowinity Primary School. Since then, I have taught first, second, third, and fourth grades. I am so excited that this year I am back in third!  I have loved having the opportunity to teach different grade levels. Not only has it strengthened my teaching, it has allowed me to see the growth of my students in their learning. I was honored to be voted Teacher of the Year for CPS during the 2005-2006 school year. In 2007, I earned my National Board certification and renewed that certification in 2017. On a more personal note, I live in Washington with my husband, Chris, and we have one daughter named Logan. Some of my favorite things are reading, spending time with my family and friends, traveling, riding horses, and painting!

2025-2026 3rd Grade Supply List

• 2 three-pronged plastic pocket folders (two different colors)

• 2 spiral bound one-subject notebooks

• Lots of pencils (regular, wooden, #2 pencils, not mechanical pencils)

• 4 packs of Expo dry erase markers 

• 2 pack of thin, fine tip markers

• 2 pack of thick, chisel tip markers

• A 4 pack of highlighters (yellow preferred) 

• 1 small box of crayons 

• 1 zippered pencil pouch (not a box)

• Headphones - please be prepared to replace as needed throughout the year!

• 1 box of tissues

• 1 roll of paper towels

• 1 container of Clorox wipes

• Please do not buy 3-ring binders

• Please be prepared to replenish any supplies as necessary - especially Expo markers, highlighters, headphones, & pencils

• No rolling book bags

• No personal pencil sharpeners
