Mrs. Lisa Silva

Hi everyone,

My name is Lisa Silva, and I am the Instructional Coach at Chocowinity Primary School. As an Instructional Coach, it is my job to work with individual teachers and PLC’s to select & implement instructional strategies, implement differentiation strategies, and provide professional development. I also model effective instructional strategies, co-plan or co-teach lessons, observe and provide non-evaluative feedback, and mentor teachers.

I graduated from Meredith College with my undergraduate degree in Child Development and a K-6 Elementary Education Licensure. I earned my Master's degree in Reading Education from NC State University with a K-12 Reading Licensure. This is my 26th year of teaching, and I have loved every minute of it! I began my teaching career as a 1st grade teacher for 8 years with Wake County Schools. Then I moved to Pitt County, where I taught another year of first grade before becoming a Reading Recovery Teacher. I have taught Reading Recovery for the last 16 years.

I currently live in Washington with my husband and two children. I enjoy spending time with my family, being a sports mom, spending time on the river, and reading. I am also an adjunct instructor at ECU, where I currently teach a Reading course to students who want to become teachers.
